€ 30 million SME credit line to NBE

The board of AFD approved on December 16^th 2009 a concessional loan of € 30 million to National Bank of Egypt (NBE), the most important public bank of Egypt. This loan will be used to finance the development of SMEs in Egypt (mesofinance). This project will contribute to the first objective of the Country Strategy of AFD in Egypt for the period 2009-2011. The first objective of the Strategy is to promote the development of a modern, competitive private sector, by supporting private initiative and SMEs. Promoting access to credit for SMEs will contribute to creating jobs, through investment, and to reducing poverty. >> More about this project

MENA Carbon Forum 2009

AFD and the World Bank organize the MENA Carbon Forum 2009 on 6 and 7 May in Cairo, hosted by the Ministry of Environment of Egypt. This forum will be a platform for information, knowledge sharing and networking.
